My job took me out of town in 1994 so haven't been back to Duffy's since leaving. I was back for the weekend and wanted to see if the food was as good as I remembered. Duffy's didn't disappoint. Asked a friend who lived in a neighboring town if they had ever had the chance to try them out. Since they hadn't had the opportunity, we made the 40 minute trip over to Monterey just to eat. Friend was pleased with this little hidden Jen.

I love Duffy's! And it's the best kept secret in town! Because it's totally in the neighborhood area and it's got the very, very best hamburgers in town and also for the price. I'm only giving this review because I want them to succeed and they have been there for 30/40 years or more! But since the DLI has cut off the entrance, it's a little more dicey, because only the ones that really know how wonderful it is are able to go there. But I guess if I couldn't get in because it became so popular, I would be very glad because I don't want anything to ever happen to them. They are the very, very best hamburger around.

JD was an awesome server/bartender he answered all the questions I had which helped me determine my selection. Can I tell you this is the best Bacon Blue Cheese Burger (BB) I have ever had! Well it was! The menu has so many choices, but the BB stood out to me. My BestFriend and I came here on my last night in Monterey. We split the stuffed Tater Bombz and they were delicious. They had the perfect amount of spice, cheeses, and crunchy outer shell! My BestFriend shared her onion rings and they were also the best Onion Rings I have ever had. Crispy not greasy, give them a try you won't be disappointed! The ambiance was awesome, dive bar feels with hometown comfort food!! I will be back!

Love this spot. The ONLY place you can order a half pint! Loved the French dip. Good fries, great Guinness.

Duffy's has great beer, huge burgers that are well made, and a larger menu than you'd expect for such a small pub. No frills, local, and one of my favorite spots. The ambiance matches its location, just outside the 1770 entrance to the Presidio. The ceiling is covered with military patches. It's a great spot.

Standard pub type fare. Burgers were large, excellent flavors. Steak was on special and was also tasty. Service was sassy, but that wasn't a detraction. Ambiance was eclectic...military and 1990's beer adverts. The bathrooms and furnishings were rough. Could use some maintenance.

Super friendly staff and great food. Seems like a more of local spot than touristy one but had a great experience. Very old fashioned ambiance. We had Presidio hamburgers and the portion was huge - fries were seasoned and delicious.

My favorite place to get a burger in Monterey. Quality is always great and the prices don't hurt your wallet.

It was the Wednesday Night Special that caught my eye as I planned our Xmas Monterey trip for 2022. Steak. Ahhhh. I know two steak lovers I need to impress! But first, this is a cute old, locals Tavern, British in its appearance, and yet very proudly All-American, with open beamed ceilings and a small bar and dining area. It is well hidden in a quiet neighborhood that dead-ends into the still-active Presidio. It is well worth discovering if you are looking for great, yet humble, food and outstanding prices. They serve beer and wine only. You can easily relax, and enjoy watching the mix of patronage, from young families to businessmen, military personnel, and seniors. How about indulging in a game of darts in a tiny side room, or sitting and enjoying some great sports on their 2 TVs? But the proof is in the eating. And so our two tough steak fanatics put the Wednesday Night attraction to the test. This is not just any steak. It is a hand-cut ribeye that most likely weighs in at around 16-20 oz, for $30. This beautiful steak has great grilled flavor, nearly covers the entire serving platter, and reveals a huge pile of fresh mixed veggies, (green beans, cauliflower, broccoli) hidden underneath. It barely allows sufficient plate space to accommodate the huge baked potato with all the fixings, including bacon bits that you must have. Melt in your mouth good. The house-made chili with beans, topped with cheddar cheese is delicious. It is hearty, with just a hint of cumin. Who can resist? Not I. I am a big fan and an unashamed bite-stealer. I ordered a bowl of their house-made, hearty Irish stew (beef). It is just the right size, full of large tender chunks of beef, potato, carrot, and celery. Comes with bread. Quite good. My daughter's Calamari steak sandwich came on a very good, freshly baked sesame bun. The calamari was buttery, tender, and lightly coated. However, this ended up being the least favorite. Good, but she admitted she would not re-order it. This is a family-friendly pub, with a kid's menu. Our two youngins chose spaghetti and hamburger dinners. Made them both happy, and did not break the bank. I would love to return. They have very appealing specials, one each night, and the warm cozy feeling as you dine is something I shall remember.
